The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed between New Zealand and the United Kingdom (UK) early in 2022 makes it easier and cheaper for Kiwi businesses to export to the UK
It also provides opportunities for businesses large and small to grow, invest and diversify.
The FTA market access package is one of the best New Zealand has secured in any trade deal. Overall, this means 99.5% of current New Zealand goods can now enter the UK tariff-free.
The agreement means:
- No tariffs on most exports to the UK
- Easier access to the UK market
- Protecting and promoting Māori interests under the Treaty of Waitangi obligations
- Savings of about $37 million a year for Kiwi businesses
- Exports to the UK to increase by about 50%.
