Increase in the minimum rate for Early Childhood Education & Teacher Aides

The Government has announced that from the 1st July the minimum rate for Early Childhood Education and Teacher Aides increases.

Employers must pay all primary and Early Childhood Education qualified and certified teachers at least the required minimum salary levels. From 1 July 2020 this minimum rate has increased to a salary of $49,862. Any changes to pay should be recorded in writing and will have an effect on how annual leave is calculated.

There is also an increase minimum pay rates for Teacher Aides as part of a pay equity settlement resulting in further funding from the MoE. Increased funding has been announced by the MoE from October 2020, with new rates to be received from November 2020 and to be backdated to 12 February 2020.
